Each year, the route offers a new scenic challenge, taking you on a thrilling 75–100 mile journey through one of the valley’s stunning mountain ranges. It’s all about the cards – play your hand wisely, and you could be the lucky winner of fantastic prizes!
Walleye Festival
Get ready for one of the most exciting fishing tournaments of the year! The Canyon Ferry Walleye Festival brings together 150 top competitors from all over the country for an unforgettable day on the water. This is your chance to fish one of the most beautiful reservoirs in the region while experiencing the best of what Townsend has to offer!
The tournament kicks off at sunrise, sending nearly 150 boats racing across the water in search of the big catch. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Join us on Sunday, September 6th at 5:00 PM in Heritage Park, Townsend for an early evening of powerful live theatre with The Merchant of Venice, presented by Montana Shakespeare in the Parks.
Now in its 54th season, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks brings the timeless magic of Shakespeare to communities across Montana and beyond, offering free, outdoor performances from June through September. With a tour spanning over 60 towns in five states, this beloved summer tradition invites audiences of all ages to enjoy unforgettable nights of storytelling, connection, and culture.
The Merchant of Venice
The Merchant of Venice explores justice, mercy, prejudice, and the longing to belong in a divided world. As Bassanio seeks Portia’s hand and Antonio enters a dangerous bond with Shylock, the young Jessica risks everything to leave her father’s house in search of love and freedom. Through romance and courtroom drama, Shakespeare examines the cost of exclusion and the transformative power of mercy.
